The Wand ( for Painless Injection System)
RAGA Dental Center for Implants & Laser
Injections are now easier to give.
We know that some patients get more nervous than others at the mere sight of a needle and syringe. Spring Branch Family Dentistry proudly uses the Wand, a lightweight handpiece that looks like a pen, eliminating the pain you get from the injection.
The Wand helps us provide a more effective anesthetic delivery and the onset of anesthesia is often faster. You're more comfortable throughout the procedure, and we may be able to use new techniques so you won't experience the lingering numbness of your tongue, lips and face.
Prior to the introduction of Wand into the dental market, the syringe, a 150-year-old technology, was one of the first methods to deliver local anesthetics. Today clinical research has shown that the Wand enables dentists to deliver a painless injection of local anesthetic, while providing a more pleasurable experience for the patient and an easier and safer method of delivery.
Easier on the Patient
Many patients believe that needle insertion is what causes discomfort during an injection, when in fact most of the pain is caused by the flow of the anesthetic. The Wand controlled flow rate results in an injection experience that has proven to be two to three times more comfortable than with a traditional syringe. This makes the dental experience more positive for the patient.
Easier to Anesthetize
Think of the palm-thumb grasp and pressing movement required to inject with a traditional syringe. Then picture the precise movements you can make when holding a pen - to write, to draw. No wonder the Wand enables such accuracy. The pen-like grasp allows bi-directional rotation during injection, which prevents needle deflection that can occur with a traditional syringe. A straighter path results in a more accurate injection, meaning fewer missed blocks, and a more rapid onset of anesthesia.
Easier to Handle
With the microprocessor-controlled Wand delivery system and the revolutionary Wand handpiece, giving local anesthetic injections of all types has never been easier. Holding the Wand in a pen-like grasp gives you unparalleled tactile feel and control without the muscle fatigue that occurs with a traditional syringe. Because less penetration force is required, needle advancement is almost effortless. The flow rate of the anesthetic is controlled by a microprocessor instead of the pressure of your thumb, making it more precise.
The Wand is an excellent example of our efforts to bring you the latest dental technology, and to help all of our patients have a pleasant, positive visit to our office. Feel free to ask us if you'd like to know more about this remarkable new system.
